03/09/2021 Important Message from District 89

March 9, 2021

Dear D89 Families,

I hope this message finds you and your families safe and well. I am writing to update you on our current school plans for the weeks and months to come.

As you may be aware, many staff members received the first dose of the vaccine last month. Therefore, next week, Tuesday, March 16, our staff is scheduled for the second dose of the vaccine. Students will engage in an asynchronous day of learning, meaning students will work on assignments independently. Teachers will communicate their expectations directly with their students.

The health and safety of our students and staff are our top priority. Therefore, the week after Spring Break, all students will engage in remote learning. Also, many of our schools are used for voting, therefore April 6th will also be a remote learning day.

Please see below for important dates to remember.

  • Friday, March 19 – Friday, March 26th: Spring Break
  • Monday, March 29: Teacher Planning/Institute Day (No school for students)
  • Tuesday, March 30 – April 1: Remote learning for all
  • Friday, April 2: Non-attendance Day
  • Tuesday, April 6 (Election Day): Remote learning for all
  • Monday, May 31: Memorial Day Holiday- No school
