Important Message for Jane Addams Families
September 26, 2023
Hi JA Parents,
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Jane Addams lost not only a colleague and staff member, but we lost a dear friend. Words cannot express how we feel in this moment, but just know, we stand united. We will persevere through this difficult time together. As a District 89 family, we will never forget the legacy of Mrs. Andrea Alvarez, and the years of unending commitment and devotion to our district and communities.
We want to thank you in advance for being supportive of our staff during this very challenging time. A memorial service to celebrate the life of our beloved friend and colleague Mrs. Alvarez will be taking place on Thursday, September 28th. Our students will have an asynchronous learning day so that the staff may have the opportunity to attend the services and pay our respects. We know that this may cause some scheduling changes for you, but we greatly appreciate your support and understanding. Teachers will connect with students via zoom at the designated time, which will be communicated by the teacher.
Your sympathy and support have helped to fill some of the emptiness in our hearts from losing such an amazing person. Thank you for honoring her memory in so many lovely ways. The messages of kindness, condolences and sympathy have made this difficult time a little easier for the staff here at Jane Addams. Please continue praying for her family and us as we continue to heal and move forward.
Respectfully,
Principal Wold & Assistant Principal Hawkins
